Domain description :

The Daisy Contant families and share in the nineteenth century most of the wine lands of the Provencal village of Cairanne. Avi Richaud, a vineyard worker from the village of Verclause (Drôme), married in 1910 Marie Constant, heir to a few hectares of vines. As soon as the domain created Richaud, the winemaker to share the Great War but never come back from the front. Marie Richaud, Stage Manager of Customs in Cairanne, maintains the vineyard is taken over by his son Raoul in the 1930s On the Richaud field are then 6 hectares of vineyards that supply a wine cooperative. Gaston Richaud, cabinetmaker, inherits a beautiful area of ​​vineyards when he married a native heiress Cairanne. Description of the appellation :

Since 1937, the wines produced in the Rhône Valley are defined by the AOC Côtes du Rhône. Consists of several municipal and local AOC, this appellation produces red wines, dry whites and rosés and covers 42,000 hectares dotting 6 departments (Rhône, Gard, Ardèche, Vaucluse, Loire Drôme) and 171 municipalities. The total annual production of this AOC is over 2 200 000 hectoliters most of which comes from the southernmost vineyard. The vineyard has a more Mediterranean climate made of sun, warm temperatures, seasonal rains and Mistral. The main variety of red wines and rosé is Grenache (it covers at least 40% of the surface). Syrah is also needed in the southern area.
