Domaine des Escaravailles is owned by the family for three générations.Fondé FERRAN in 1953 by Jean-Louis Ferran and his son Daniel and Jean-Pierre, is currently headed since 1999 by Gilles, the son of Daniel.Le Estate owes its Occitan name "escaravay" is Scarabée.Ce nickname was given by the villagers to the Black Penitents of Avignon, owners at the time (Rasteau archives in 1623) .The vineyards cover 40 hectares in Rasteau slopes chalky clay and stony pentuset 25 hectares on neighboring soils of Cairanne, Roaix Villedieu and Saint Roman Malegarde.Les vines are grown old with plowing and fertilizers organiques.Les harvest is essentially manual and sorted.
