Domain description :

Located Wintzenheim, rural village near Colmar, our Winery enjoys a unique microclimate and a rainfall that is one of the lowest in France. Covering an area of 28 hectares (28% Riesling, 24% Pinot Blanc Auxerrois & 21% Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer 19% and 10% for Sylvaner, Muscat & Pinot Black), this vineyard has always been conducted in a rational way and respect for nature. In the late 90s, for the purpose of excellence, this vineyard was quickly converted to organic and biodynamic cultivation. Since 2004 all our wines is certified by the logo AB (organic farming). This other "way" more demanding and expensive than conventional viticulture or reasoned, allows a better harmony between heaven, earth, plants and humans. This close relationship between these four elements creates a noble grape which, in turn, will create a dense and balanced wine with a unique personality.

Description of the appellation :

A famous legend claims that around 1565 the vines were brought from the town of Tokay (Hungary) by the Baron Lazare of Schwendi, who served the House of Austria in its struggle against the Turks. Owner of land in the country of Baden and Alsace, he ordered to multiply these plants in Kientzheim (where his castle still exists, property of the Brotherhood Saint Etienne). At that time indeed, the wine regions of European countries dreamed of producing Hungarian Tokay, highly prized wine produced from the Furmint grape.

Description of the region :

Renowned for its white wines, Alsace offers great wines of Gewurztaminer and Riesling. Its excellent terroir can produce exceptional wines. The vineyards extend over 15,600 hectares classified as AOC-PDO. These are based on soils composed of gneiss, granite, sandstone and limestone. Here are the varieties of wine: Pinot Noir, Sylvaner, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer.
