Vincenzo Conti, his wife and children settled in the southwest of France in 1925. In 1956, Primo Conti, his son took over the family farm with Michelle, his wife, who also keeps a few horses and brother Albert. Belonging to the third generation, Luke, guided by his passion for horses, moved to Gendres early 80. Luke recovers few hectares of old vines and plant new plots also, assisted by his wife Martine, who deals also the home to the field. Francis, his cousin, with whom he grew up in this great smala, joined the operation in 1990: its 20 hectares of vineyards of Saint Julien d'Eymet add to the vineyard Gendres and Grand Caillou and it supports culture of the vine.
AOC Bergerac is located in the southwest Dordogne. The climate of this vineyard is oceanic, again, assisted by the marine winds and the relief of the valley, the vine development is favored there, thanks to its high humidity throughout the year. The soil of this AOC is hard, made of silt, boulbènes, clays and sands. This AOC covers 93 towns, about 13 000 hectares of producing vineyards. The traditional varieties of red wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and côt. The roses are in turn prepared by assembling Merlot and Cabernets.
The Southwest vineyard deploys foothills of the Massif Central to the Pyrenees flanks on historical provinces such as the Basque Country, Rouergue, Guyenne, Béarn, Gascony and Aquitaine. The Southwest vineyards extend over the Adour Basin, Aveyron and the Basque mountains, the Toulouse country, Quercy, Agen, Albi and Bergerac. They have a moist and mild maritime climate, somewhat influenced by the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. This climate is characterized by frosts in spring, cold winter, summer and autumn are warm. The designations differ in their micro-climates, favored by reliefs that allow the vines installation.
