Vieilles Vignes | Grapes | AgricultureDe Old VignesMontfaucon is facing Châteauneuf-du-Pape, on the other side of the Rhone. Our vineyards are spread between Montfaucon and the two neighboring towns, Roquemaure and St-Genies-de-Comolas.Le area rich 18 ha originally (in 1995) has grown to reach 60 hectares today , as new vines were planted, and old were redeemed. Our vines date from an average of 40 years, the oldest of up to 90 years.

Description of the appellation :

The Lirac appellation is located near Orange and Avignon, in a bend of the Rhône. The vines are planted on terraces and sunny slopes, where soils are diverse. They extend over the following municipalities: Liras, Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres Roquemaure and Saint Géniès de COLOMAS. The climate is Mediterranean.

Description of the region :

Second wine region in France after Bordeaux, the Rhone region is one of the oldest in the country. The vineyard is divided into two zones: the northern Rhone Valley and the southern Rhone valley. Other areas furthest part of the region: Vivarais Luberon, through the Diois. The Bordeaux region can produce red, white and rosé, of all kinds: dry, soft, natural and sparkling. However, the red wines are produced in this region (representing 80% of production). At the heart of the southern area is the Grenache grape that made the red wines "solar".
