The field Mooiplaas, meaning "Beautiful Farm" is located in the region of Stellenbosch, in the hills of vineyards Bottelary 370 meters above the sea. Created in 1806 by Jan Christofel Bosman, the field Mooiplaas was bought in 1963 by Roos family. Louis Roos is the current owner. In 1989, the property was declared a National Monument. It now has 243 hectares of land with 100 ha that are dedicated to vines and 70 hectares of private nature reserve of incredible richness.
The Pinotage grape is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, well known in South Africa.
