The Bordeaux wine region has a vineyard extending over a large part of the Gironde. It is located on hillsides and alluvial terraces that may be up to 120 meters. Bordeaux is divided into 60 designations, thereby producing a wide range of wines, mostly red. The white wines of Bordeaux are soft, dry and sweet wines, such as Chateau Yaquem. The region also produces some rosé sparkling wine (the Crement Bordeaux) and red wine claret. Some Bordeaux wines are classified Grand Cru. Here are the Bordeaux varieties: red: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot; White: Sauvignon, Semillon and Muscadelle. These are distributed differently in different names and geography. For example, Merlot represents 75% of Libournais while it covers only 40% of the surface of the Medoc. The vinification is done grape variety. Then, the assembly is done in the proportions described in the specifications of each appellation. Some additional varieties can be used to complete the assembly of wines, including cost, Colombard, Petit Verdot and Ugni Blanc.
